Ace is 6 months old!

Our beautiful little man, is now 6 months old! We are so proud of what a happy engaging fellow he is. He is very active and strong.

Ace's favourite thing at the moment, is to blow raspberries - at the most in-opportune times!

He has also taken to saying uuh-uhh-uhh to me when I am doing something he doesn't like. (he learned that from us as its what we say when he grabs our glasses.)

He is eating solids - twice a day and is growing, growing, growing!

Ace thinks his daddy is the funniest thing in the world and giggles non stop when he is around (probably because of the funny faces he makes, his tickly whiskers, his insistance on daily raspberries, and that Shawn has been known to put the baby's shorts on his head while changing nappies!)

Camera Magnet

It is amazing how easy it is to want to photograph every smile, every little expression when you have a bubba in the house...
I have given in...
Here's some more Ace eye candy, after all, every mummy thinks their baby is the cutest in the world, why would I be any different???

Two Months Old

This little man, is now 2 months old!
It's been the longest, fastest, most terrifying yet exhilarating two months of my life..... and we have survived.... more than surviving, we are doing just fine!

Ace really is a treat, he hardly ever cries, he doesn't do a lot of sleeping, but is so engaging while he's awake, his smiles can make you forget the fact you are mooching by on 5 hours broken sleep.
He is very active, and spends most of his time waving his arms and legs, smiling and cooing.

Bright colors, patterns and people are his favorite things. He will drop everything to have a chat with anyone who takes time to engage him.

He is beginning to copy Shawn with the word "Hello". Ace always makes me giggle when he tries to copy daddy... he gets such a look of concentration!

I can't begin to tell you what an amazing daddy Shawn is, he truly is fantastic, Ace is already a daddy's boy!

Shawn is also an amazing support to me, he has made me feel like we are really doing this "together".

Passing on the heritage of a good name

Shawn and I have just enjoyed 4 days with his mom Freda. She came up for a quick visit and to come to my 25 week scan. She had never seen a scan as they weren't invented when she was having her babies and this is her first grandchild. She was thrilled to see her unborn grandbaby... and tickled pink (or in this case tickled blue) when we had it confirmed we are expecting a little boy. She had 3 boys, two still living - Shawn's dad died a couple of years ago and as yet has not had any grandbabies to carry on the family name. She gave me a poem that used to hang in the boys room when they were young. It's beautiful so I thought I would post it here.

Your Name

You got it from your father,
t'was the best he had to give,
And right gladly he bestowed it
It's yours, the while you live.

You may lose the watch he gave you
and another you may claim,
But remember, when you're tempted,
to be careful of his name.

It was fair the day you got it,
and a worthy name to bear,
When he took it from his father
there was no dishonor there.

Through the years he proudly wore it,
to his father he was true,
And that name was clean and spotless
when he passed it on to you.

Oh there's much that he has given
that he values not at all,
He has watched you break your playthings
in the days when you were small.

You have lost the knife he gave you
and you've scattered many a game,
But you'll never hurt your father
if you're careful with his name.

It is yours to wear forever,
yours to wear the while you live,
Yours, perhaps some distant morn,
another boy to give.

And you'll smile as did your father,
with a smile that all can share,
If a clean name and a good name
you are giving him to wear.
